New chapter is out! Earlier than Monday thank fuck. It's an odd chapter today, as it goes over the process of truly making a magic weapon and what enchantment actually does. It doesn't actually progress the story much, but it does tell you a lot.
What have I been up to? I haven't really been up to much. Just bingeing Binding of Issac and watching Rick and Morty. Finally actually started watching that. It's pretty funny.

MISTAKES WERE MADE
Hi all!
Late update today, but it could not be helped as I have had a lot of stuff on my plate. I was intending to write a shorter chapter this time but I got through the section quicker than I thought I would. I hope you all enjoy it! There is a little about how Chaos works in this chapter but I didn't go into as much detail as I would like. I might redo that chapter before I publish the proper book and add more detail about how someone controls the aspect of chaos.
I've been pretty stressed out this week so I haven't been able to write much. Otherwise I would still have somewhat of a chapter buffer and this chapter wouldn't be so late. Sorry about that! Relationship issues suck. Also I posted the chapter as a blog post which slowed down the release DERP. Anyway, here's the chapter!

Mega Milestone Madness
Hi all!
New chapter is out, it's the second Cleo chapter of the current load. There's maybe two or three more before I switch things up again, so you have that to look forward to. She's a lot more of a normal child than Laurence is, but that's expected. Laurence is odd. This puts a close to the Escher-like test and next chapter will usher in the third floor. The first arc of the story will be ending soon enough (maybe 10 or 15 chapters really) so you have that to look forward to as well.
This week has been pretty excellent for me blog-wise. We broke 5000 views, then 5500 views AND we hit chapter 20 since Wednesday. Which has made me very happy. To celebrate this I have standardised the formatting of the site and begun work on mirroring EVERYTHING on to WattPad. Once WattPad has been finished I will mirror it on Royal Roadl as well. With that I should get some more feedback and increase my fan base!

Why I Hate Winter
Hi all!
New chapter is out, it's another Cleo chapter. Who knew writing from the point of view was so easy @_@. I like this chapter, because I got to imagine all sorts of wacky images that follow along from the Escher painting style rooms this test contains. It's fun.
So yeah, I'm still ill. Different cold though. This is why I hate winter. I swear, I don't have a bad immune system, in fact it's pretty fucking great, but in winter as soon as I get over a cold I get another one. So yeah, I don't get that in summer, the season that doesn't give me headaches and I enjoy. Anyway here's the chapter!

Storms, Sickness and Other Stuff!
Hi All!
New chapter is out! It's a longer one, with a lot of explanation about a new skill that is showing up in the series. It is also introducing the most dangerous enemy any traveller can face... THE WEATHER. I enjoyed writing it, and I hope you like it too!
As for general life things, not much has really gone on. Still been ill, my nose is more blocked up than a bagpipe submerged in lard and I've been working. I did get to throw giant balloons at people during work yesterday which was fun, but that's about it.

Sicky sicky!

Not much to say this update, but I like this chapter. It is the first proper pubstomp you get to see in the story. Hope you like it!
I've been ill for the last couple of days, and so I've been a little drained so I haven't had a chance to write much, but I will be sorting that out soon. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be ready to start publishing Lazarus as soon as I am back on form, so there's that. I will give you guys an update when I know more. Also the site broke 4000 views on Friday! Thank you EVERYONE who is reading my work. It's really awesome to know I have a reader base.

Madness? A DOUBLE UPDATE?
Hi all!
As you can probably guess, today is a double update. One part is a relatively short chapter and the other is a side story. It's a bit of lore that tells you about a part of Babel we have yet to see. I like it, and think that it's a solid piece, but IMO I like the release chapter more. I hope you do!
What have I been up to this week? Well apart from working and job hunting I watched the first episode of The Expanse, which is a new show from SyFy. It has a budget and is actually pretty fucking good. I will be enjoying it. As for everything else, I caught up with Gravity Falls (It's pretty much my favourite cartoon ever). There's only one more episode until the end D: This makes me a sad writer. Either way though, the last two episodes were EXCELLENT, and Bill Cypher is my favourite villain in just about any series. I cannot wait for the 1 hour special episode to finish it, it's going to be EPIC.
In other news, Coiling Dragon finished this week. Most of you know about it, but if you don't it is the series that got most people in the community into Xianxia and the like (Mine was Duolou Dalu), and we are so thankful for Ren and all his hard work. He pretty much blew the translation scene out of the water with the one chapter a day publishing schedule and I wish him the best of luck in translating Desolate Era and anything else he wants at a much slower pace.

The Big Red Book
Hi all!
New chapter is out, it's a longer one, but of the next three chapters, two are around 2k words, while one is only about 700. I hope you like it. It tells you more about the nature of the Books, and gives you a few hints to the future as well as giving you some build up to the point where Laurence eventually gets to Heaven rank.
Now on to more important things. First, holy fuck does blogger hate copying things from google documents. I had more trouble sorting out this chapter than I have any others, and I am dreading the moment where I have to make them all uniform D: Anyway, shorter update this week as I have some chores to do! (Plus I have a nasty cold so I want to get back to bed).

Walls, Pills and Writing.
Hi all!
New chapter is out! It's a short one, but over the next three chapters at least you are going to have two longer than normal ones, and one short one. I like this series of chapters because it explores a bit more into the lore of the clan of creation, and it tells you a little more about the Book. Fun fact, the next part was originally meant to be one chapter, but it's become four. There was a lot more for me to go into than I thought there was so it bulked more than I expected.
What have I been up to this week? Mainly the job thing on Monday (which I should find out about some time today), looking at houses and reading ISSTH. I Shall Seal The Heavens is incredible at the moment, and the most recent chapter (Chapter 291) blew me away. Er Gen is an incredible writer, with a flair for the best dramatic reveals that keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Many thanks to based Deathblade for allowing me to experience it!

Speak All Evil, Hear All Evil, Cie'Awll Evil
Hi all!
Little bit later today than the last couple. I've been procrastinating like a bitch while job-hunting rather than writing, so I could have done a lot more if I had put my mind to it. New chapter is called Cie'Awll, and it gives you a small insight into the nature of the people in the worlds of Babel. This one is more medieval than anything else. You see some side characters, some who will stick around, some who might not. You can never tell! This is also the first chapter that you will encounter the 'old tongue' of my series. Don't worry, it's not going to be used often, but anything old enough will have an alternate name in this as yet unnamed language. Also, the chapter is pronounced See-All jsyk.
Saw Spectre last night with some friends, and I have to say, the new James Bond film was... The most Bond-like of them all since they rebooted the series with Casino Royale. It had everything you would want in a Bond film; action, explosions, bizarre twists of plot, things that don't make sense in retrospect, stupid reasons to escape from the bad guy that is supposed to be a Chekov's Gun, pretty women who Bond sleeps with, and even a little bit of chauvinism! So yeah, if you want to just chill out to an action movie with a bit more style than Expendable, but not as good as Die Hard, then watch Spectre.
Anyway here's the new chapter!

The Flag With Three Streamers
Hi all!
New chapter is out, pretty early today. I wanted to get it out so I have more time to write my quota and to write my side project, Lazarus. I'm going to mix it up a bit, because I'm missing some good solid Sci-Fi in my web novel mix. It's going to be first person, longer chapters and probably only released once a month, but I'm enjoying writing it too.
Today's chapter title (and post title) has a small reference to ISSTH. If you get it, great! If you don't, seriously read ISSTH. It's incredible. We will be seeing the capabilities of a Saint in this chapter, at least a little, so people should be able to get a hold of the power scale of this series. POWER CREEP WILL BE RAMPANT BUT LINEAR. Speaking of the series in general, I am so happy I am subbed to the user Lindybeige on YouTube. He makes my job of making the crafting accurate much easier, because yeah, the crafting for everything so far has been as accurate as I could make it, minus the glyphs and soon the enchantments.

A Shorter Chapter For A Shorter Gap!
Hi all!
So I am pretty happy this week. Last Friday the site reached over 2000 views, which IMO is incredible. I've also worked out that the first book is likely going to be around 50 chapters long. It might be a bit shorter, or a bit longer, but that is the estimate. Anyway, not much happens in this chapter, but it does introduce another B list character, and preface the next challenge. The four or so chapters after chapter 12 are going to have a lot of world-building in them, so I am having fun with that and I should be ready for them. I will also hopefully be releasing the first part of another side story after chapter 20, which is going to occasionally run alongside the main story and be about the nickname of a character who has not been formally introduced at yet. I hope you guys like it, because it's going to be... bloody to say the least.
What have I been doing this last week? Well apart from reading my list, writing and working, I have also been watching Bob's Burgers. I love H. Jon Benjamin, he is an excellent voice actor. Anyway, here's the new chapter!

Yunning About, the big 10!
Hi all!
New chapter is here and it's the first double digit one! And it names Laurence's first companion. I like Yun, he's a simple character who is going to be a badass for the entire series! I really need to write more. My Xianxia reading list and job hunting/work is taking so much of my time up that I am finding it difficult to keep up to my plan of getting 5 chapters ahead. I seem to constantly be stuck on 3 chapters D:
Now, I know people don't like parting with their money so I have been putting this off for over a month now, but I would like to offer people the chance to donate if they feel like it. Saints Fighting and Job Hunting

Early chapter today, as I am pretty busy looking for a new job in my area. I still have my old one and all that, I just need a new one to cut down on travel a LOT. I like this chapter, it's a lot more visceral than the most recent others, so people should enjoy it. It also ends that two chapter cliff-hanger and proves once again that my twists are visible from a country mile. OR ARE THEY?

Moving house!

Tomorrow is moving day! Woo! Also halloween. That I am less enthused about. I'm not a big fan of any holidays really, but halloween irks me because of how commercialised it has become. It's just a blah festival. Anyway, new chapter is out, and there is more of Cleo! It's got some focus on her journey and the introduction of a few new characters to boot! I hope you like them!

Moving House and Writing Books!
Hi all!
Today is the day! The day for a new chapter! I know it happens every Friday, but I might not be able to keep to that next week as I am moving house next Saturday. I will try to, as I want to keep to the deadline, but I will not be using a computer much and my tablet kinda sucks for the whole editing thing.
In other news, the chapter is out, and it is an in depth piece into one of my favourite pieces of any story or game, the crafting system! (Yes I love minecraft) Don't worry, if you are turned off by crafting, this is not all this story will have to offer. There is also fighting, intrigue, romance, and even bad comedy! I hope you like the chapter!
What have I been doing this week? Well not much really. Getting ready to move, working, seeing mah lady, and trying to get ahead of the curve in chapters. The last one is the hardest, but I might actually do it this week! I probably won't though.

In other news, the chapter is out, and it is an in depth piece into one of my favourite pieces of any story or game, the crafting system! (Yes I love minecraft) Don't worry, if you are turned off by crafting, this is not all this story will have to offer. There is also fighting, intrigue, romance, and even bad comedy! I hope you like the chapter!
What have I been doing this week? Well not much really. Getting ready to move, working, seeing mah lady, and trying to get ahead of the curve in chapters. The last one is the hardest, but I might actually do it this week! I probably won't though.

Not so surprise midweek update!
Hey all!
I wrote this on a whim a few days back and really enjoyed writing it. It's supposed to be read in a Scottish accent, so if you don't know what that sounds like just think of Groundskeeper Willie from the Simpsons. It's a short tale based on something I came up with in chapter 3 and I thought that I might write it. I will likely do that for a few of the pieces of literature mentioned in the series.
Not much is really happening to me at the moment. I saw Big Hero 6 finally a few days back, and that was hilarious. If you haven't seen it yet, Baymax is the most adorable robot ever, and you should watch it. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is funny as hell as usual, and the Flash is shaping up to be fucking awesome. I also can't wait for season 2 of Daredevil, because the first season was so good.
Either way, I hope everyone is well!

Golden Children and Translators Ending
Hi all!
New chapter for you all, with a new character and a bit of information about how one of the clans works in Babel. It's a shorter chapter, so to make up for it, I will be releasing a side story this Wednesday! It's going to be a surprise, but it's very different from the rest of the story so far. In fact I wrote it as if I was another person! (I was channelling Robbie Bruce and Lewis Carrol when I did.)
On a sadder note, Void Translations is ending its project of translating one of my favourite Xianxia novels, Xian Ni. I love the series and it makes me sad to see Void end the project, because if nothing else, the translation quality has been brilliant. I hope we get to see another group (HINT RWX/FBT PLEASE) to pick it up, as Er Gen is a master of the genre, and Xian Ni is just the right level of dark. Either way, I wish void the best, and hope that things go well for him.

A Path Well Trodden
Hi all!
I hope you like this new chapter, it's a bit longer and explains some of the mechanics of the story as we go ahead. The next few chapters are going to be packed with both information and plot, so keep your eyes open. I will begin on including major characters within the next 10 chapters, and we will have all the major characters of this story I hope introduced by chapter 20.
I've been reading Re: Monster, which is pretty good fun, but I'm up to date on everything that isn't translated through three languages and kind of rough on the eyes, so I will hold it at day 201 for now!
Other than that, I hope everyone has had a nice week, and I will see you all on Monday!

Me, Myself and Tony
Hello once again!
The third chapter is out, and it's a preamble for the first 'test'. Not much really happens in this chapter, but it does introduce a few important things. Perhaps you can pick them out, and perhaps they are not what you think!
I've been reading I Shall Seal The Heavens recently, and am currently loving the third arc. If you are enjoying what I am writing then please, check out WuxiaWorld and have a look at it if you already haven't read it.
The next chapter is almost twice the length of this one, so the story should ramp up a bit, but the next part is also a bit of an info dump. A lot of things will be explained about the world in the next five or six chapters.

The Sword Itself
Hi all!
New chapter is out! Woo! I enjoyed writing this chapter, it's the first piece of combat in a series that should have a large amount of combat in it. As everyone knows, the best parts of Xianxia is the combat scenes and the training between combat scenes. It also goes begins to show the major plot point of the first book, It's not like it's hard to guess what that is.

New Chapter!
Hello people! Today is the second release of Babel! I am very happy to say that I have finished this chapter, and am pretty excited about where the plot will go.
This chapter introduces us all to the MC. On a scale of Chen Chang Shang to Chu Feng, I am trying to get my MC to Tang San levels of reasonable personality. Over the next four or five chapters people will actually begin to learn about the Tower and life inside it, these will also introduce us to several recurring characters, so keep your eyes peeled as some characters who you might think are not coming back will be.

Prologue release!
So here I am announcing that the first chapter (the prologue) of Babel is released! Check it out HERE. I like this chapter, it's a solid way to start a story. A little bit of world and character building, even some tension thrown in there to excite the mix!
I hope people think it's good, and I will be seeing you soon!
Oh, I am going to try and publish something every Monday and Friday, so while the story won't necessarily be the fastest progressing it will still progress. I might even try and occasionally get a Wednesday release too, but I don't know about that. The main thing that is holding me back (other than my rampant procrastination) is my work schedule, so I hope it goes to plan, but the release schedule is TENTATIVE at best. I have also been thinking of writing a darker story with an evil protagonist or one that becomes corrupt, so I might put that up every Wednesday or every other Wednesday instead when I have got enough planning for that one.

The Start of a Challenge
So hi.
My name is Seth, and I am starting a new blog in an attempt to get something I write seen by the outside world. Perhaps I can make a proper job of this and even make some money out of the things I love! Such is the dream.
I have been reading a lot of web novels recently, and thought I would give the format a try, so on Friday I will be posting the first part to a series I am actually having a lot of fun making. It's as you might have guessed called Babel - the Path To Ascension and is a western take on the enjoyable but not necessarily deep genre of Chinese literature known as Xianxia.
Anyone who knows what Xianxia is will have some idea of what to expect, but if not, there are several websites dedicated to translating the novels that you can check out.
I hope people enjoy my writing and what have you.
